lyrics

There once was a man who tried to mix night and day
To live in a world full of magic and grey
Avoid the tough questions brought up in the light
As well as the fear buried deep in the night

He loved the great work of the dusk and the dawn
But so quickly they came and the same they were gone
So he did what he could to live like they stayed longer
He slowly grew tired, but still claimed he grew stronger

It became very clear in a matter of time
What he could not flesh out he built up in his mind
He said to be living each day as his last
But really just dodging the result of his past

He then took it further, calling others, “Join In!”
“Let’s sing and let’s dance, then relax in the din”
Mostly convinced he had nothing to hide
But the more he believed the less he stepped outside

Then one day he said, “I’m not concerned if it’s true”
“I will live like the sun doesn’t care what I do
And make sure I don’t see when the night comes for me
Its visions foretelling my life won’t be free”

In the end all could see that his plan truly failed
But no one quite knows if he broke through the veil
Or accepted the cost of being lost in the grey
Of the dawn and the dusk that call us either way
